Bukhoor Maryam

Bukhoor (Arabic spelling: ), also known as Baqoor or Bakhoor, is an Arabic term for Wood Chips soaked in Perfume Oils and other natural ingredients (Resin, Musk, Ambergris, Sandalwood, Flower Oils and others).

When Bukhoor is smoked in a traditional Incense Burner, its exotic and lovely perfume fills the room and creates a pleasant atmosphere.

Burning Bukhoor isa part of Arabic culture and rituals.

Its a traditional gesture to pass bakhoor among guests, so they can scent their hair, clothing, and hands. This is believed to be as integral to hospitality as serving coffee and dates.

Incense burning is in the old Arab tradition as it is practiced even today.
During burning incense on charcoal valuable fragrances are released and spread a relaxing lovely scent.

In order to burn incense with Bakhour it is best to use Charcoal. The Charcoal is first ignited over a flame. Ideal are special lighters or a candle flame. After the charcoal begins to glow, it is placed in a Bakhoor holder or other fireproof dish.
Now on the coal, the Bakhoor is placed and the smoking process can begin.
After smoking with Bakhour please ventilate the area.
